scally car 06
This years car started out as a Swedish BMW 525i, not much was done with the car from February when the car was delivered to us until the start of October just getting ready for the event. An immobilizer had been activated so the car had not been started in a few weeks, when we got it started it just boiled and cooked the engine on the spot.
So with four weeks to go suddenly we had no car. It’s at this point that Mr O'Connell came to the rescue, weather it was guilt or not but after selling us the bmw he donated a Volvo 850 of 96 vintage. Two litres, four cylinders and 20 valves with the glorious sound of a slightly blowing exhaust. All we had to do was fit two drive shafts that were in the boot and put a switch on the fan that refused to turn off and was killing the battery.
After those jobs were done Cian drove
the car for a week and a half just to make sure there were no more problems.
It never acted up or gave us any reason to doubt it would not carry us all
the way there and back. The only shame was there wasn’t air conditioning
considering there would be five adults in it.
